Activities and Amenities in Historic South Texas

Remember the Alamo

As for our Alamo history…General Santa Anna camped under an oak tree beside the Medina River days before his assault on the Alamo. The tree has since collapsed as did Mexico’s plans to keep Texas for itself. Texas avenged the loss of the Alamo with its victory in the Battle of San Jacinto not long after, thus winning independence from Mexico. You can still fish right here in the Medio Creek, like soldiers did all those years ago. But today’s camping is so much better! Get comfortable with hot showers, immaculate restrooms, and a modern laundry facility. We have strong WiFi and lots more too!

Happy Campers

Real words from real people

We spent 11 days here while checking our San Antonio. It is the perfect getaway to be out of the fray of the metro and be out in green open space, yet still only a few miles to all SA activities. We loved being in the lower valley area, nature at your doorstep. Friendly hosts. Highly recommend.

We were very happy with the facilities, and the staff was outstanding. Easy to find just off of I-35 and convenient to area attractions and shopping. 20 minutes to the Riverwalk. Park has lots of pull through sites and full connections.

We stayed at this park in January of this year and found it very pleasant. We stayed in the hallows down by the river and liked that very much; less crowded and lots of room for our dog to sniff around. Laundry room was nice; 5 washers and driers, coin op. but little folding room. We were fairly close to the main sites in San Antonio (20 minutes or so), and the “Missions” were about 15 minutes away, different direction.

** Bonus: Visit Benjamins restaurant, just about 3 blocks as you exit to the right. It is to die for and very reasonable prices, * We ate there every day (Puffy tacos and enchiladas).  Thank you for a great stay. The Traveling “T’s”

Teri was the best host, she had lots of great information to pass on about the park and the area! The park is well kept, we were in space 1 and we looked out into the grassy area, there was a lot of room from the spot on the other side. No one was in the tent area so I was able to walk my dog back there and the creek was very close! The restrooms, showers, and laundry rooms were clean and updated and open 24 hours. Each restroom and shower was in private room with a lock. It was only 15-25 minutes into San Antonio, we would definitely stay here again!
